Long time UIL Academic Director Treva Dayton retired January 31, 2012 without a replacement yet hired to fill the vacated position. I will miss Treva as our relationship dates back many years. I taught at Georgetown High School and Treva at the time was teaching at Pflugerville High School, just a few miles down the road. I worked to recruit Treva, an outstanding speech coach, to take the position at GHS (which she did). Treva has served UIL and the state of Texas admirably for many years and many will miss her. Thanks goodness that those of us working within the academic areas of UIL have well qualified, committed and engaging Assistant Academic Directors who have not missed a beat and will navigate all into the District competitions before the arrival of the new Academic Director, who begins his position on the first day of District Academic competition. That is what my grandparents would have called, “stepping from the frying pan into the fire!” To learn more about the new Academic Director, follow the link below to the complete article located on the UIL website.
